Rest in Peace, Wonderful Wilma Bentley
It is with great sadness that the Burk’s Falls and District Historical Society inform our followers that one of our dedicated volunteers, Wilma Bentley passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Wilma joined our Historical Society after she retired from 35 years of employment with the Burk’s Falls Post Office.
Wilma Irene Bentley was born on September 28, 1948 and settled in Burk’s Falls. People that knew Wilma knew that she enjoyed decorating, celebrating special occasions and dressing in Victorian costumes. Wilma was a pillar in the community as the Wiseman’s Corner Schoolhouse Heritage Centre’s greeter and volunteered many hours over the years. Wilma volunteered 448 hours from May 19 to October 9, 2017 alone! Hours of volunteer time was spent researching family histories for the Historical Society and educating visitors on the importance of local heritage. Many families returned each year to the Wiseman’s Corner Schoolhouse just to visit with her.
Wilma was a valued member of Burk’s Falls and District Historical Society; she was an involved, committed and enthusiastic community volunteer and she will be greatly missed by us all. Rest in peace, Wonderful Wilma!
